The Statue of Liberty is a global symbol of freedom and democracy, a gift from France to the United States in 1886, standing on Liberty Island in New York Harbor. It is reached by ferry from Battery Park or from New Jersey, and visitors can tour the pedestal and the crown. It is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
