Terms of Use
These terms are an agreement between you and us about how Balkan Nexus is used. Please read them — they are short and written to be clear.
1. Who provides the service
The Balkan Nexus app is provided by IM Tech Solutions, Belgrade, Republic of Serbia, company registration number 67761138 (referred to below as "we"). Contact: info@balkannexus.com.
Balkan Nexus is a network for the Balkan diaspora: news from home, communities by city, places, events, guides, a Market with classified ads, and a jobs section.
2. Accepting these terms, and age
By creating an account you accept these terms and the Privacy Policy. If you do not accept them, do not create an account.
The app may be used by people aged 18 and over.
3. Your account
- Enter accurate details and keep them up to date.
- Keep your account access safe; you are responsible for everything done from it.
- Do not present yourself as another person, organization or institution.
- If you suspect someone else has accessed your account, write to us immediately.
4. Rules of conduct
The community runs on trust, so the following is prohibited:
- hate speech, insults, threats and harassment, as well as incitement to intolerance
- pornography, nudity and sexually explicit content, as well as graphic depictions of violence
- deception, fraud, false offers and impersonation
- unsolicited messages and advertising unrelated to the community
- publishing other people's personal data without their knowledge and permission
- publishing content you have no rights to, including other people's photographs and texts
- unlawful content, as well as content that clearly does not belong in the section it is entered into
5. Child safety
Any content or behaviour that sexually exploits, abuses or endangers children (CSAE) is strictly prohibited. This includes, without limitation: child sexual abuse material, sexualising minors, grooming a child for abuse, sextorting a child, child trafficking, and facilitating or encouraging such behaviour.
There is no warning for such content: the account is terminated immediately and permanently, the content is removed, and we report the case to the competent authorities in accordance with the law.
If you come across such content, report it immediately:
- using the "Report" button on the content or the profile, with the reason "Child endangerment"
- or write to us at info@balkannexus.com with "Child safety" in the subject
Reports involving children are handled as a priority.
This applies to private messages too. If someone harasses you in a conversation, or addresses a child in an unacceptable way, the conversation itself has a button to report and to block that user; for the most serious cases write to us directly at info@balkannexus.com with "Child safety" in the subject.
6. Your content
What you enter remains yours. By publishing it, you grant us the right to display your content in the app and on our public pages for shared links, so that other users can see and share it. This right lasts until you delete the content, and serves only to operate the platform — we will not sell it or give it to third parties for their own purposes.
You are responsible for what you publish: for its accuracy, for the rights to it, and for the consequences of publishing it.
7. Content visibility and moderation
Most content is published immediately and visible immediately: posts, comments, classified ads, real estate listings, job ads, reviews.
Only the following are reviewed before publication:
- new places (organizations), approved by a city ambassador or an administrator
- requests to take over management of a place that has no owner
Our team and city ambassadors may remove content that breaks the rules, and may restrict or terminate an account that repeatedly breaks them. If we reject a place, you receive an explanation and can correct it and submit it again.
8. Private messages
A one-to-one message is private correspondence between two users. The rules of conduct in section 4 apply there as well: the ban on harassment, threats, deception, unsolicited offers and publishing other people's personal data does not stop applying because only one person sees the message.
We do not monitor correspondence and we do not read messages in advance. That is also why there is no option to report an individual message — if someone harasses you, report the user and block them. A block works both ways: you stop seeing each other's content, and the conversation disappears for both of you.
When a report reaches us, we review the reported user's profile and behaviour, and we restrict or terminate the account if the rules have been broken. Where there is a suspicion of a criminal offence, we report the case to the competent authorities.
Messages are not end-to-end encrypted; how they are stored is described in the Privacy Policy.
9. Market: classified ads, real estate and jobs
Here it matters that you understand what we are and what we are not:
- We are a listings space. We are not a party to any agreement between you and another user.
- We do not verify the accuracy of listings, the condition of items, title to property, or the truthfulness of job offers.
- Nothing is paid for through the app. Every payment, handover and contract happens outside the app and at your own risk.
- Deal sensibly: verify, ask for proof, avoid paying strangers up front.
If you come across fraud or a suspicious listing, report it to us at info@balkannexus.com.
10. Seller reviews
A review must be truthful and based on your own experience. You may leave one review per seller and edit it later. You cannot review yourself. Reviews used for revenge, extortion or advertising will be deleted.
11. News and third-party content
In the Media section we show headlines, short excerpts and links to articles from other media outlets. That content belongs to its publishers; we do not write it and are not responsible for its accuracy. You open the full article on the source's site, under that site's rules.
12. Maps
Maps and address search are based on the Mapbox service. By using maps in the app you also accept that service's terms.
13. Points, levels and roles
Contribution points, levels and badges exist to highlight effort within the community. They have no monetary value, cannot be bought, sold or transferred, and we may recalculate them if we establish abuse.
City ambassador and moderator roles are assigned manually by an administrator and may be withdrawn. A role does not constitute employment or a contract with us.
14. Information in the guides
The consular, legal, practical and tourist guides serve as help and orientation. Rules, prices, opening hours and jurisdictions change, so before an important decision or trip, always verify the details with an official source. We are not liable for damage arising from reliance on information in a guide that has changed in the meantime.
15. Life Index
The Life Index is built from ratings given by users themselves — it is not official data or statistics. The averages and amounts shown (rent, costs, salary) are estimates by people who live there, they depend on who voted and how many did, and they can be out of date.
Vote only for the city you actually live in, and enter accurate figures. Entering false amounts in order to push a city's rating up or down is treated as abuse, and we may remove such a vote.
Before moving, buying, or any other serious decision, verify the details with an official source. We are not liable for damage arising from reliance on the Life Index.
16. Limitation of liability
We provide the app "as is". We work to keep it available and correct, but we do not guarantee uninterrupted operation, nor that every detail entered by users will be accurate. To the extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect damage, lost profit, or damage arising from relationships between users.
Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law, nor your rights as a consumer.
17. Ending your use
You can delete your account at any time, in Profile. We may restrict or terminate access if you repeatedly break these terms or if the law requires it. In that case we remove your content in line with the Privacy Policy.
18. Changes to these terms
We may change these terms — for example when we add a new feature. We publish the new version in the app with an updated date, and we notify you in the app about any significant change. By continuing to use the app you accept the changes.
19. Governing law and language
These terms are governed by the law of the Republic of Serbia, without affecting the protection given to you by the law of the country in which you live. The terms exist in several languages; in the event of any difference in interpretation, the Serbian version prevails.
