The Nordkette is the mountain range rising steeply above Innsbruck, reached by a modern cable car from the city centre itself. Within minutes visitors travel from street level to Hafelekar at over 2,300 metres, with a panoramic view over the city and the Alps. It is popular for hiking, skiing and its viewpoints.
