Town Parish Church (Stadtpfarrkirche Gmunden)

A church on a rise above the northern shore of Lake Traunsee, first mentioned in 1270, with a Baroque tower over 51 metres tall. The highlight inside is the Baroque sculpture group “Adoration of the Magi” by Thomas Schwanthaler on the high altar, a model for many nativity scenes across the south of the German-speaking world; late Gothic frescoes survive on the outer wall.
