Ort Lake Castle (Seeschloss Ort)

A castle on a small island in Lake Traunsee, linked to the shore by a bridge and one of the oldest buildings in the Salzkammergut - first mentioned in 909, it took its present form after a fire in 1626. The town of Gmunden took it back in 1995 and it is now a museum and event venue; it was also the backdrop of the TV series “Schlosshotel Orth”, and across the bridge stands the Land Castle (Landschloss Ort).
