The Römerberg is the historic square at the heart of Frankfurt's old town, in front of the Römer building that has served as the city hall for centuries. The square hosted fairs, imperial elections and coronations, and today it is one of the most visited spots in the city. At its centre stands the Fountain of Justice from 1543, ringed by reconstructed half-timbered houses.
