The Imperial Cathedral of St. Bartholomew is a Gothic church and the largest in Frankfurt, which for centuries served as the site of the election and coronation of Holy Roman Emperors. It has a distinctive red tower that can be climbed by some 328 steps. The complex also contains the Dom Museum in the medieval cloister.
